Happy Canada Day
To all of the FFS team, Compass crew, and sub-contractors supporting Asterix.
Today we rejoice in Canada’s birthday, and we find Asterix deployed overseas directly supporting the Canadian government’s policy for a ‘Strong, Secure and Engaged’ Canada.
On a national holiday such as this, we should all in Federal Fleet Services (FFS) pause for a moment and reflect on what we have achieved collectively, what we are doing now, and how this helps advance Canada’s role in the world. There are few Canadian companies that can say they share our experience, our commitment and our proven results.
As you will no doubt agree, we are very fortunate to live in one of the greatest countries in the world, and we can be doubly proud that we are helping defend our nation and our values via our daily support to the Canadian Armed Forces. It is not a coincidence that the blue Canadian naval jack flies atop our mast.
I am immensely proud of all the teams (Ottawa, Halifax and the crews on board) that have worked tirelessly together to get Asterix deployed; you all should be too! As you all know, this was no easy task and there were many long days and nights getting ready.
Canadians seldom wear our hearts on our sleeves, but I don’t believe we are offside if we at FFS are a little bit more proud of our achievements when we look at what capability Asterix brings to Canada’s military commitments and how we did it all so safely and efficiently.
As Asterix continues to provide a world class resupply capability in the weeks and months ahead, let’s be safe and work hard to provide the best service afloat, anywhere! But on Canada Day, today, please take a moment and reflect on how you have contributed to our great nation’s defence.
A sincere thanks!
Regards
Spence Fraser
